David Geffen's Quasi-Undiscovered Instagram Is Mostly Extremely Boring

Jordan Sargent · 05/16/16 02:05PM

Entertainment mogul David Geffen has a fascinating interior life. As an old billionaire, he has constantly afforded himself the best young, muscular ass money can buy, and that has tended to get him wrapped up in the juiciest of tabloid dramas. For instance, in 2014 he had to file a restraining order against his 20-year-old football-playing ex-boyfriend, and last year a porn star testified that he would “fear for his safety” if he revealed to the FBI that Geffen had paid for some dental work.

Night Shyamalan, Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen (accompanied by his youthful boyfriend). Jennifer Hudson provided the entertainment; Naeem Khan was responsible for Michelle Obama's gold dress. [Politico, Reuters, NYP]

• In what may be the most dubious story ever published by Us, a source tells the tabloid that Angelina Jolie "hates" President Obama because he's "all about welfare and handouts" and is really "a socialist in disguise." Naturally, the source goes on to say that Brad Pitt is still a fan of Obama, which means the two "get in nasty arguments" about politics "all the time." [Us]

The Real Housewife and the Gray Lady

cityfile · 05/21/09 12:53PM

Reports surfaced recently that media mogul David Geffen had expressed an interest in buying a piece of the New York Times. As the story goes, Geffen had offered to buy Harbinger Capital Partners' 20 percent stake in the paper; but Harbinger, the hedge fund operated by Phil Falcone, had rejected the overture because it had been hoping for a higher price. Much was made of Geffen's attempt to snag a piece of the esteemed paper, what his true intentions were, and whether the DreamWorks co-founder had been hoping to shape the paper's coverage of Washington and Hollywood. It doesn't matter much now, since the deal doesn't appear to be moving ahead. In the meantime, though, let's all be thankful that Falcone's wife, Lisa, hasn't been making any efforts to influence the Times's fashion coverage.
