1) Donna Karan's annual designer garage sale in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund was co-hosted by InStyle and Kelly Ripa on Saturday. Betsey Johnson, Lydia Hearst, Euan Rellie, Lorraine Bracco, Jessica Stam, Katie Lee Joel, Debbie Matenopoulos, Hana Soukupova, Charlotte Ronson, and Nanette Lepore browsed stalls manned by the likes of Rachel Zoe and Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, raising $3.6 million. Think the economy would have made some people think twice before spending stacks of money on elaborate nuptials? Not so, according to the Daily News, which reports that not only are people still having full-blown weddings, they're increasingly doing it twice. Needless to say, celebrities are leading the trend, including Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky, and Jessica Alba and Cash Warren. [NYDN]
CNBC headed out to the Hamptons a couple of weeks ago to meet up with Howard Stern and soon-to-be wife Beth Ostrosky at a Hamptons magazine party celebrating—what else?—Beth Ostrosky on the cover of the mag. As the reporters from CNBC tell it, Howard and Beth are the Hamptons hot "It" couple and they've had an absolutely storybook romance (although, as you'll see, the account of their romantic first meeting leaves out the fact that Howard was very much married at the time). Now they spend time on the East End because, says Beth, her "favorite part of being in the Hamptons is the wildlife." (And by animals, she means the sort that run around on four legs, not the sort that line up outside Dune in Southampton on a Saturday night). Howard and Beth's passion for themselves—and cute animals—below.
1) The ACRIA benefit at photographer Steven Klein's Bridgehampton farm, sponsored by Calvin Klein Collection and Vanity Fair, invited guests for "Cocktails at Sunset." A boldface-heavy crowd including Bruce Weber, Jessica Stam, Donna Karan, Daphne Guinness, Rachel Zoe, Elizabeth Saltzman, Francisco Costa, Kelly Bensimon, Padma Lakshmi (above right), Carol Alt, Calvin Klein, Joy Bryant, Karolina Kurkova, Olivia Chantecaille, Mary Alice Stephenson, Anh Duong, Sessa von Richthofen, Zani Gugelmann, Jackie Astier, Lucy Sykes and Euan Rellie, and committee member/host Andrew Saffir (above left) ate mini-burgers and tater tots, and bid on a Steven Klein print of Madonna from W magazine. Fifty-eight years ago today, a baby named Arianna Stassinopoulos was born in Athens, Greece; these days you know the liberal-turned-conservative-turned-liberal as Arianna Huffington, the founder of The Huffington Post. Also celebrating on this 15th day of July: Paul Sevigny is 37. Actor Forest Whitaker is 47. The future Mrs. Howard Stern, "model" Beth Ostrosky turns 36. Don Hill is turning 64. Real estate scion Dan Tishman is 53. Interior designer David Easton is turning 72. And adman Mitch Oscar is 56. Most importantly, it's Brian Austin Green's birthday today, too. Be a little extra generous with your loose change if he's your barista today.
- Beth Ostrosky loves sharing wedding details. Howard Stern's almost-wife says she and the shock jock will be inviting 150 guests to an October wedding in the city, and she'll be wearing a Marchesa dress that she's been discussing with Georgina Chapman. Oh, and the happy couple plans to adopt more dogs since Howard says he's not having any more kids. [Page Six]
