Three American heroes were arrested for speaking truth to power over the weekend, after allegedly hurling beer bottles and hurtful words at security guards stationed outside singer Taylor Swift's beachfront Rhode Island mansion.

The Westerly Sun reports that the individuals—two men and one woman, all in their twenties, all Nutmeggers bringing low-class Connecticut-style tomfoolery to Rhode Island's genteel shores—were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Security guard Ryan Poirier—who probably became a securidy gahd because he wanted to protect people and keep them safe; who probably never envisioned himself weathering a barrage of beer bottles and rude gestures as he spent yet another Sunday patrolling the enormous perimeter of an empty mansion bought on a lark by a singing child—told police that, after throwing the bottles, the trio "extended their middle fingers," and, in the words of the Sun, "shouted the corresponding expletive" ("Take a hike!"). He snapped a photograph of the miscreants on his cell phone.

One of those arrested—Tristan Kading, 28—told TMZ they were flashing peace signs, not middle fingers. He and his associates have been ordered to appear in court on a later date.

Taylor Swift was not in Rhode Island at the time of the incident, because she is rich and can go anywhere.
