A man has been charged with planting a fake bomb at a mosque in northern Virginia, the Associated Press reports. The bomb was found last week, authorities said, and the man was arrested Monday.

27-year-old Chester Gore was charged with using a hoax explosive device and entering a property to cause damage based on religious conviction after the “bomb” was found at the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Virginia’s Fairfax County on Thursday. According to the AP, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said Gore also caused $200 of damage to a fence gate.

Anwar al-Awlaki, a Muslim American who was radicalized by American actions in the wake of the terror attacks of September 11, 2011, and who was eventually killed in a drone strike in Yemen in 2011, was the imam at Dar al-Hijrah for about two years, until the spring of 2002.
