A Christian leader in Amarillo, Texas doused a Quran in kerosene and prepared to burn it. Just then, a rattail-coiffed fauxhemian snuck up, grabbed the holy book, and "I was like, 'Dude, you have no Quran!'" Then he ran away.

All hail Jacob Isom, the unlikely hero of Amarillo. Here's a local news report where Isom recounts his harrowing feat:

The Amarillo Globe-News reports that wannabe Quran burner David Grisham is the director of Repent Amarillo, "which aims to deter promiscuity, homosexuality, and non-Christian worship." The Amarillo Independent adds that Grisham is an armed guard at a local nuclear plant. So, that's comforting. Anyway, without his Quran, Grisham didn't have anything left to do, so he went home.

Isom had a skateboard tucked under his arm when he swiped the Quran. He now plans to auction this most historic instrument so he can "maybe get a new skateboard and something to go with it." [Guanabee, AmarilloGN via MSNBC, Amarillo Indy via TPM]
