Alas! America's first family Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have called it quits, again, after Johnston told Palin he may have fathered a child with an ex-girlfriend. Is there any hope? Levi's lawyer thinks so!
It seems like only yesterday that we had our hearts stolen by these two plucky Alaskans, one the daughter of a barely-literate vice presidential candidate, the other an aspiring nude model and snowmobile enthusiast. But—as with their British counterparts Charles and Diana—it was a love not long for this world, and despite a brief reconciliation and the now-hollow promise of wedding bells, the marriage of the century has been called off:
Palin, 19, says the relationship soured on July 14, the very same day they announced their marriage intentions to the world. Palin says he told her that evening he might have fathered a baby with another teenage girl. (Palin did not name the young woman, but a pregnant former girlfriend of Johnston's has since publicly denied his paternity.) ...
"The final straw was him flying to Hollywood for what he told me was to see some hunting show but come to find out it was that music video mocking my family," she says. "He's just obsessed with the limelight and I got played."
But don't start tearing up your Levi/Bristol fanfic poems yet! Levi Johnston's lawyer Rex Butler is holding out hope: "These young folk have a lot of pressure on them right now," he told the Washington Post. "All you have to do is watch that show 'Bridezillas' — it's on and off, on and off, depending on the pressures." Rex, whose MySpace page lists his Zodiac sign as Aries, thinks that Levi's just not ready to settle down, and that despite Bristol's claims of absenteeism, Levi is "around."
